1873 .38-40 OCTAGON RIFLE, MADE 1884, this was obviously a real Frontier Gun as there is saddle wear to the forearm just ahead of the receiver bottom that goes down almost to the magazine tube! Overall a deep brown patina, generally VG worn wood, buckhorn rear sight with small blade front sight, VG markings, brass lifter is marked "38 CAL" and shows some light dings, action is a bit worn, but functions okay, dust cover is a replacement, dark bore with good rifling and normal light roughness, lots of history and stories in this 130+ year old Western used Winchester!
