Description:
#95696, Waffenfabrik Mauser Oberndorf a/n: A Kurz (K) Short Action Round Top 250-3000 Best Grade Type A Commercial Sporter Made either in 1926 or 1927, I believe it to be Unfired, In Outstanding Condition, 22" Barrel, Band front ramp, Band sling eye and 5 leaf Type A express sights. Here is a Type A Kurz in 250-3000, it and the Kurz carbines in Type A are the rarest of the roughly 7500 K models made at Oberndorf. Relative Type A, the 404 and the 250-3000 are considered the hardest chambering's to find & we have both. The Type A was Mauser's best grade, best finished and usually had better wood as this piece totally displays. The piece is with a knurled receiver ring, hinged floorplate, with a lever release and a standard trigger. The Type A stock with very nice color and contrast and with a cheekpiece, steel grip cap, sling eye on the buttstock line, forend tip and point pattern checkering. This piece comes out at 6 lbs. 12 oz. with a 14 9/16" LOP over the checkered horn buttplate with the Mauser crest. This incredible piece is totally original and retains 97% original blue, the stock at 97% as well and the bore is new. It is on page 411 in the color gallery of Jon Speed's "Original Oberndorf Sporting Rifles". Several serious Mauser cranks have handled the gun and most will comment it is the best Kurz they have seen relative overall condition. This is nice stuff from a classic era. We also have a Type A 404 Jeffery that is also an outstanding piece with a single square bridge Magnum action.
