FINE PRE-WAR MERKEL 222 OVER-UNDER SIDE-PLATED DOUBLE RIFLE WITH SCOPE
SN#24678 Cal. 7x65R. 25-1/2" Bbls are fitted with quarter rib holding one standing leaf rear sight and claw scope bases. Checkered front ramp holds silver bead. Bbls are stamped with imperial German proofs dated 2/33. Action and lock-plates are fully engraved with exceptionally fine, cleanly cut, large, shaded scroll. Nicely figured European walnut stock with rounded cheekpiece and cartridge trap with space for four cartridges is on rear of comb (top of stock),retains nearly all of original hand rubbed oil finish.
Hensoldt steel bodied 4X scope in claw mounts. Optics were perfect prior to being sent to JJ Perodeau for cleaning was returned re-assembled incorectly. Have never bothered to have corrected.
