PRE-WAR GOLD INLAID OVER UNDER COMBINATION RIFLE/SHOTGUN BY SUHLER WAFFEN EXPORT HAUS. SN#XX45. Cal. 16ga. x 7x 57R
27" Bbls with full length matted rib are sighted with flip-over rifle/shotgun blade at rear and gold bead front. Claw scope bases are fitted. There are deep relief thistle leaves at breech ends. Bottoms of bbls are stamped with 1929 German imperial nitro proofs. Excepionally fine semi-relief gold inlaid game scenes are on sides of action Trigger guard is of steel and fully engraved with pair of birds gold inlaid in central oval. It appears this gun was made for export, as rear of trigger plate is finely engraved with an American Indian in single feather headress holding a long spear.(?) A cartridge trap on toe line features scene of two gold inlaid ducks flushing. Beautifully marbled and well figured European walnut horn capped pistol grip buttstock measures 13-3/4" over checkered horn buttplate. 7lbs.2oz
