Description:
For Sale or Layaway:  1943 Colt Argentine Sistema M1911A1 45 ACP pistol.  This is an Argentine Army version with all matching numbers(slide/barrel/frame).  The magazine does not have matching numbers but is an older Colt mag with 12-10-70 date etched on one side.  The pistol appears to have a darker finish which is worn but this earlier arsenal finish is much nicer than later parker finish.  Early and period correct Moline style grooved grip panels are installed.  Pistol is fully functional.  Barrel has typical wear with much rifling left.  Great collectible and shooter.
History:  Argentina contracted with Colt to own the rights to manufacture exact copies of Colt M1911A1s.  Factories were built, Colt personnel trained Argentines in all aspects of the process, high quality equipment was purchased from Germany and in 1943 the second factory making pistols was opened(Rosaria).  This factory produced these pistols from 1943 to 1966.  40s & 50s units were made for all branches of the military while later units were manufactured for the commercial market.  Many older units were factory reworked to a parkerized finish to extend their life.  Many more in poor condition were sold to importers to the US many years ago.  This pistol has no import marks.  A recent surge in collector interest is understandable since these pistols are Colt military spec copies with the same fit/finish/function as very high cost USGI examples.  There is a forum link that tells the complete story.  It is a very interesting bit of history.
It is  ://forums.1911forum/showthread.php?t=68064&highlight= .  There are many collectors of these pistols and many variations are deemed desireable.
As always, please allow a licensed gunsmith inspect any older firearm to deem it safe to shoot.
Simple, honest layaway plans available.
