Description:
SOLD!  Highly probable CS Mississippi Cut Down Rifle to Carbine.  (12" long barrel, 27.5" total length) Incredible saddle wear that cannot be faked to where it rubbed the wood stock to the point of exposing the crude ramrod!  Has big initials "I G" on left-side of stock, and some garbled "M...A W" and some more.   Also, on the brass buttplate, see where the soldier "stabbed" at the "US" marking!  Fully-functional, tight spring.  Does have a decent crack but does not go all the way through the stock (pics show it well).  All the firing/battles this went through...physics/stress from firing does take it's toll.  But a legit CS Arsenal cut-down, with matching "XXXVIII" and 8 "dots" on barrel and in barrel channel.  Rifling on Mississippi's I think stopped at the first 5-6" of the breech (for the round would basically take up that space).  Rifling there, sling swivel band there, original brass rear barrel band with tack nails to keep it in place. Cool NO BS Confederate Mississippi Rifle cut to a cavalryman's hard-fought carbine.  Most likely kicked like a mule.
