Unknown Manufacturer (French, Darne-style), sliding breech shotgun, 12 gauge, s/n 5760, 27” barrels, choked Improved cylinder and light modified, barrels retain virtually all of original blue, action operates smoothly ejecting casings when opened, moderately hand engraved, European Walnut stock, skip-line checkering, 14 ¼” LOP over hard rubber pad, no cracks in stock, appears to retain original European oil finish,
We know nothing about who manufactured this gun which came in a collection from an estate. It appears not to be a French, Darne sliding breech shotgun due to the logo on the action (see photo) although its physical appearance is very much like a Darne. We cannot figure out how to remove the barreled action from the stock and don’t want to damage the gun. There may be some markings on the metal underneath the wood. As far as we know the gun is mechanically fine. It comes up nicely, If you want to purchase this gun we will sell it cheap. If you have any information about who made it we would appreciate anything you could share with us.
