Description:
REDUCED!!! William Glaze marked South Carolina CS Cut Down Saber.  The  blade is marked Columbia S.C.. Styled after the model 1840 Cavalry saber made in Columbia South Carolina Palmetto Armory by William Glaze & Co. Circa 1852 with only 1000 produced.
It has an "RWZ" stamped under the crossgaurd which is the correct inspection mark for the Palmetto armory.  There is a number 43 stamped in two spots on the guard. Also a letter R and what looks like a letter M near the 43. Between the R & M is some kind of a worn starburst looking emblem. Palmetto tree?  The blade has letters scratched into it. First what looks like WS and a couple of inches to the side of that what looks like a backward Z or N.  The handle leather is mostly missing but what is left has a great patina. The wood has a great worn patina and is not damaged. The blade has some areas of light pitting.  The blade was cut down a bit and fashioned into a clip point (period done/patina matches rest of the blade). Total length almost 30 inches
