Description:
Lovely as-new 16 bore Sidelock ejector driven bird gun made to specs designed by noted British gun dealer Victor Chapman from Essex. A 2004 gun but as-new, not used in field. Hand detachable locks, articulated front trigger, disc set strikers, 85% coverage fully hand-engraving (very tasteful as one would expect), case colors 100%, bluing 99%, wood as-new, no scratches/nicks. Checkered butt, splinter forearm, 29 inch -1235 gram barrels with 70 mm (2 3/4 in) chambers, 16.9 mm bores, choked M and IM/LF (18 pts and 28 pts). Strong straight-grain striated color-streaked walnut with 14 3/4 LOP to wood butt, 1 3/8 in DAC, 2" DAH. Really superb wood to metal fit on this gun, like an English best (and I own many of them), there is much handwork.
Lovely balance slightly forward of hinge pin, very lively at 6 lbs, 7 oz. All in all a wonderful, unique 16 bore designed by a great British game shooter with all the proper bells and whistles but nothing garish, a rare gun. Suitable for driven or walked up pheasant or grouse, partridge, pigeon, dove, even ducks.
