Description:
This “Baby Model 12” bears serial # 78894. It is of course chambered for 2 ½ and 3 inch 410 bore shells. The barrel is 26 inches and stamped Skeet as to constriction. It has a Simmons rib, mid barrel mid and orange front sight. The shotgun wears aftermarket wood by Fajen with minmal handling and safe storage marks. The butt stock has an LOP of 14 ½ inches. The pistol grip has an aggressive cut and is capped with a beautiful piece of rosewood for a grip cap. It fills my rather large hands quite well. The blue is extremely deep and bright. Very likely a distant re-blue but one of superior quality and execution because the lettering etc is still sharp and un-blurred. Now for the extras as if there were not enough already. The gun also has a spare barrel. This barrel wears the Winchester doughnut type vent rib. It measures 29 ½ inches with the Lyman Cutts factory installed as was the rage back in the day. There are three Lyman chokes two marked 410 FC (Full Choke) and one marked 410 Mod (Modified). Now here is where it gets interesting. The previous owner of this shotgun worked at the Bomb Plant here in Oak Ridge. During a machinist strike long ago and while the machines were idled he took his Texas Aggie Engineering degree and knowledge of machining down to the shop floor and made two more aluminum chokes. One is marked 390. The other unmarked and appears to not have been used. Aluminum has proven to be quite suitable for chokes as Lyman, Cuts and Kolar have been making them for years. We will supply the wooden case as well with this shotgun and spare barrel.
