This is a nice old early Remington model 1875. It has serial # 7580 stamped on the grip frame. It is a rim fire 44. Walnut grips are in very good condition as is everything else about the gun. Mechanically everthing works perfectly. The original post sight was altered to accept a larger blade sight. This was done during it's period of use by the owner for a better sight picture but the blade sight is now missing. Gun is an even plum brown color with traces of original bluing in protected areas.
The model 1875 is the gun favored by outlaw Frank James and I have some material for sale that relates to this famous outlaw. No outlaw in American history is more celebrated than Frank & Jesse James. Frank James was a gunfighter for 21 years, from 1861 as a Confederate Soldier then with Quantrell's Raiders to the end of his Outlaw days when he surrendered in 1882.
