Description:
Serial #173657, .31 caliber, 5" octagon barrel with a very good, bright bore that has some minor freckling along its length. This is an 1860 manufactured revolver that has all matching numbers including the wedge and arbor with the barrel retaining 70% plus of the original bright blue finish that has flaked to a gray-brown patina on the muzzle and breech. The frame and lever have muted original color case-hardening remaining which have turned to a pleasant bluish gray speckled patina while the cylinder, which is predominantly mottled gray, has virtually all of the original stagecoach scene remaining with excellent and un-flattened safety studs along the rear face. The backstrap and triggerguard have a few tiny traces of silver remaining on protected areas but are now an overall pale yellow-ochre color throughout with some spots of ruddy tarnish starting to form along the backstrap. The walnut grip is likewise in excellent shape retaining 90-95% of the original piano varnish finish with some mild flaking at the triggerguard bow and some very minor wear at the sides of the butt. The revolver is tight with firm lock-up and the action functions flawlessly. This is a fantastic '49 Pocket with lots of original condition and is as tight as a drum; an excellent acquisition for any collection. Antique
