Description:
Colt Single Action Army Revolver - Cal. .45 - 7 1/2" Bbl. - SN 173XXX(1897) - all matching numbers on butt, guard and frame. Barrel is marked "VP" - cylinder marked "V", and "7" in hammer slot, all proper for this serial range. Bore is excellent - bright with sharp rifling - shows some mild roughness in a small area near the breech. Action is excellent with 4 "clicks", perfect timing and lock-up. Metal is near excellent with no rust or corrosion and with sharp markings but barrel shows some light surface pitting on the sides and bottom ahead of the extractor housing which also has a spot of light pitting. Barrel, guard, and backstrap retain about 65% + blue - cylinder has 80% - 85% blue with a few spots of "salt and pepper" freckling. The frame has drifted to a pleasing gray patina with traces of faded case color. Hard rubber grips are undamaged with perfect fit to frame - logo is sharp and checkering is sharp showing only modest wear. An exceptionally crisp and all original early SAA in FINE ++ condition with the desirable 7 1/2" barrel that will make a great addition to an old West or early Colt collection.
