The Rifles didn’t sell as well as expected because many Gun shops and sporting goods storeowners refused to sell the rifle because they consider the rifle unsafe, due to the rifle capability to chamber long rifle cartridge. Unable to sell the few rifles they had on hand the Import Company stopped importing the rifle. The Japanese version closely resembles the original Hamilton Model 027. They both have the same brass liner barrel and a frame made of stampings. The small bolt action is identical to the Hamilton Model 027. The only different is the Japanese 027 has a stepped barrel. The stock is stained walnut and has a Monte Carlo shape with a rubber butt pad. The front sight is a blade type and the rear is adjustable. The finished is blued with a polished brass trigger guard. The serial number and Made in Japan are stamped on the left side frame. Actually the Japanese Model 027 is better made than the original Hamilton 027 rifle. This one has replaced front sight and is missing the elevator on the rear sight, Replaced pivot screw, although it does look nice. Very good bore. A hard to find Hamilton for your collection!
