RARE AND SUPERB CARLOS GOVE REMINGTON NO. 1 ROLLING BLOCK SPORTING RIFLE CIRCA 1870’S. .40-50 Sharps Necked caliber 30” octagon false muzzle No. 3 barrel stamped on the top flat near the breech “C. GOVE/DENVER COL” and behind the rear sight “E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION, N.Y.”. 100% original and in brilliant condition. Special features include a Remington Single Set Trigger, Carlos Gove adjustable buckhorn rear sight,nockel blade front sight, Gove single wedge forend key, deluxe Gove checkered pistol grip stock and forend with Gove pewter forend cap and distinctive elongated pistol grip and Gove Rocky Mountain style case hardened butt plate. Case colored frame with almost all the original color and blued barrel with about all remaining. Stock and forend near mint with all the original finish and checkering as crisp as the day it was cut. Breech block with the original bright blue. Exceptional screws with most of the bright blue. Original wood cleaning rod with brass tip. Perfect working order and mint bore. For reference see Roy Marcot’s REMINGTON ROLLING BLOCK SPORTING AND TARGET RIFLES” pp. 223-243. Possibly the finest Carlos Gove, Denver Remington No. 1 in existence and very rare and desirable.
