Guns by Sally-always the best for less. We are extra proud to offer this stunning example of WW Greener's high grade double hammer gun. Made in the year of our Lord 1878, it is hard to believe that this side by side is nearly 140 years old. Both wood and steel are in very good condition. The highly figured walnut is beautifully checkered, and the LOP is 14 1/2 inches to the finely checkered horn butt plate. She tips the scales at just under 9 pounds. This early breech loader shows several transitional features from the percussion guns. The rebounding firing pins are well shielded, and the forearm is tethered with a wedge. Many consider this era the golden age of high grade shotguns, as low cost labor allowed the utmost quality and hand finishing. Chambered in 10 bore, the 32 inch browned complex Damascus barrels are robust. Choked old school, full and full, the bores are bright and shiny. She locks up tight, and the hammer springs are very strong. The patented Greener crossbolt does its job well, and the lever still resides to the right of center. The engraving is simply magnificent, with such intricate detail and extensive coverage. Even the hammers are nicely engraved. I found several other Greener hammer guns on the market, ranging from 6500 to 16,000 dollars. I will list this one for much less. If you have been looking for the right WW Greener to collect or for investment, then look no further.
