This example’s serial number is 379352, and the rifle is in excellent condition for its age. The cartouches are crisp with no signs of refinishing. The Parkerized metal is also in excellent condition. Any 1903 collector will be thrilled to add this Rock Island Arsenal piece. This rifle is built in early 1919, at that time period the implemented a new double heat treatment process which continued to the end of production. General overview of condition: Wood shows most all original finish with few handling marks, no sign of hard use. Metal shows 95%-98% of original Parkerizing. Bolt body shows more handling ware of bolt being worked in and out vs. actual usage. Bolt face is nearly all original Parkerizing. Bore is bright. Floor plate and trigger guard is brown patina covering the Parkerized finish that does not show usage or worn areas.
