Description:
SOLD...Antique 1886 Winchester. 45-90 Octagon barrel. Up Date. Added Photo.. See photos and description. Here is a very nice and honest 1886. It is the the very sought after 45-90 caliber. It also has the standard 26" octagon barrel. S/N 58013 and made in 1891. The bore is very nice. Minor roughness and frosting with NO big pits or craters. Still has some shine. Good rifling all the way through with NO rings or bulges. It shoots just fine. The mechanics are excellent. It feeds, fire and ejects perfectly. No bulged cases or backed out primers. Head space is perfect. The metal is smooth with no pitting. A medium gray color with some small spots of some surface crud and staining on the barrel and mag tube. Nothing that is bad or detracting from the gun at all. Has very good traces of blue along the forarm and some blue behind  the front sight and on the top barrel flat. Also shows some blue around the rear sight... There are some VERY minor and small dings on the barrel flats by the caliber markings on the barrel. They are just barely into the metal. These are not vice marks and look like dings from a rack or something. I added a close up photo for you to see.. There are some on the other side of the barrel also but are so small can hardly see them.. Just want to mention them for a complete and accurate description.. Most other dealers would not even mention them but I am not like most other dealers !!!!   All the markings are excellent and sharp. Still has the original front and rear sights. It has the semi buckhorn rear sight instead of the ladder sight sometimes found on these. The screws are all very sharp and not all burred up but the upper tang screw shows some turning but that is very common. These new screws are $3.50 if someone really wanted to replace it. The wood is very nice also. The forarm has no splits or cracks and still fits tight and above the metal in most areas. The butt stock is very nice as well fitting tight and above the metal in places and even with the metal in others. Nothing looks to be sanded on or messed with. No splits or cracks but one tiny chip by the upper butt plate {see photo}.. No issues or problems that hurt the gun at all. It is what it is. Pretty niced wood on this ole 86 and just shows honest wear with the normal light dings and scratches you will find on these rifles. No abuse anywhere I can see and is completely honest gun. This is the 86 everyone wants in the configuration and the 45-90 caliber. It is honest and not messed with and a very nice bore. They are not cheap as you Winchester fellows know but I think I have it priced reasonable. Shop and compare and then call me. 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos. I want completely happy customers. $50 insured shipping in the USA. I will be listing many more Winchesters soon so check back often as possible so you will not miss any thing you might be interested in.
