Description:
Ithaca Grade 4E NID 20 Gauge Side-by-Side
VENT RIB, 32" BARRELS, 75% CASE COLOR, TRAP

General Specs: Ithaca, Year 1929, 20 Gauge, 7lbs 6oz, SxS
Serial Number: 456863

According to Walt Snyder's book, "The Ithaca Gun Company; From the Beginning" there were only 45,000 Ithaca NID (New Ithaca Doubles) produced from 1926 to 1946.  But when analyzing the production of Grade 4 and above guns, there were only 560 Grade 4 guns produced in all gauges, with about 150 or less in 20ga. guns.  This gun, sn456863 built in 1929, is a FULLY OPTIONED TRAP CONFIGURED GUN, AND IS ONE OF A TINY HANDFUL OF GUNS SO PRODUCED.   A gorgeous gun with all original factory parts, as shipped and documented in Walt Snyder's letter, retaining lots of condition, with very rare 32" vent rib barrels, beavertail forend, SST, ejectors, double ivory beads, factory butt plate, this is a true investment quality shotgun with CONDITION, RARITY, AND DESIRABL RARE OPTIONS.   And of course, it has that fully figured Ithaca walnut with the fancy flor-de-lis checkering that sets the Ithaca guns apart from all others.  This is a great gun!  The gun has not been altered in anyway regarding configuration or features.  We rust blued the barrels and restored the wood to factory new condition, the chokes remain Full/Full, bores are mirrors, no cracks anywhere, perfect checkering, clear and beautiful engraving, 90% factory case color (fading and the camera flash blows it out, but in hand it is much more evident), great dimensions...this gun has it all.  What a fantastic sporting clays gun and dove/duck gun.  Ithaca guns have just started to be noticed in the American vintage double world, and as such are a tremendous value and investment opportunity.  Guns like this will increase in value much more than a similar Parker or Fox, as they have already seen high gains.  Thanks for looking, and don't miss out on this rare Ithaca!
