Description:
L.C. Smith Gr. 4. 12 ga. Fine Damascus 30” bls. Choked full & full. 3” chambers, extractors, double trig. Lop 14 ½”. This gun has a skeleton butt plate which is original to the gun, and very uncommon to the Smith guns. The gun has been very professionally refinished and is 98% of that finish. Checkering is excellent in a flor d lis pattern , with the s shaped grip cap which is fairly common on these early guns. Case color is very good although somewhat dark. Engraving is sharp and complete with the oval and dog at the rear of the side plate on each side. Wood quality is outstanding. This gun is a very fine example of an early gr. 4 gun and should meet the standards of the most discriminating collector. Ser. No. shows manufacture in 1896. All nos. match on wood and metal.
