LC Smith Quality 4, 12ga. 30” Damascus bls. Choked cyl. & cyl. 2 ¾” chamb. Extr. Double trig. twin ivory beads, matted rib.” Hunter Arms Co. Maker Fulton N.Y.” on rib. Bls have been rebrowned and show outstanding fine Damascus pattern. Bls. Inside bright and shiny, if there is any pitting I can’t see it. No dents or dings. Receiver and trig. Guard show silver gray finish. Original gold inlay on trig. Guard of unknown meaning. [see photos] all engraving sharp and present, of excellent quality showing 2 woodcock on left lock, 2 grouse on rt. Lock. Plus a generous amount of scroll pattern on locks and frame. Forearm escushen also engraved. The wood on this gun is of the highest quality circassion walnut, no cracks or damage. Original to the gun and checkered 30-32 lines / in. all wood is original and refinished to the original patterns. The recut checkering is outstanding and correct. There is a brass name plate on the stock with hard rubber buttplate . all screws on the gun are excellent. Manufacture ca. 1890. Has to be one of the very early Hunter guns. Any serious collector can appreciate this gun. The gun comes in a fitted ,restored oak and leather period case. All nos. on wood and metal match. I can’t imagine where you could find a finer example of this gun at this age. Very shootable w/ RST low pressure shells.
