CUSTOM BOLT ACTION with SCOPE ... 30-06 caliber ... 23" half round half octagon barrel ... weight 8 lbs 6 oz with scope ... LOP 13 3/8" over 5/8" recoil pad ... jeweled bolt ... textured trigger ... hinged floor plate.
There is absolute perfection in this very deep relief engraving by Arnold Griebel. A lifelike moose field scene is surrounded by oak leaf and acorn scroll work on the floor plate and this scroll continues to the coin finish trigger guard with initials. (Please see GI listing #100088834 for another example of Griebel's exqui engraving on a Weatherby 300 custom rifle.) The top of the barrel is marked "Bob Owens" and "Made in Austria".
The specially selected, European walnut, Monte Carlo stock shows beautiful dark, high contrast grains from end to end. Extra fancy, and perfectly detailed checkering covers the pistol grip and forend. These is a blue steel cap on the pistol grip and an ebony colored, buffalo horn tip on the forearm.
This is a world class rifle by one of the 5 best gunmakers of his era and by the best engraver of the 20th century in the United States. The rifle, end to end, is magnificent. This is probably the finest rifle that Bob Owens ever created.
This piece is equipped with a Baush & Lomb Balvar 2 1/2 - 8 scope with tapered crosshairs on Leupold mounts.
