Description:
C.G. Haenel. Aydt single shot Schuetzen Rifle. Cal. 8.15X 46R. 31 1/2" Heavy octagon barrel fitted with a ramped beaded front pin sight and wings, sling swivel on bottom, and 5 3/4" grooved flat on the top. The receiver features detailed floral scroll engraving with a cherub on the right side holding a target and broad leafy floral designs on the left. The top of the receiver is inscribed "HAENEN ORIGINAL AYDT" with gold wire inlay. The upper tang is fitted with an elevation and windage adjustable peep sight on a wide oval Aydt style base. Smooth Schnabel tip forearm and cheekpiece stock with checkered grip section, sling swivel and single hook buttplate.  Condition is fine with 70% of the original finish. The barrel has aged to a dark blue brown with patches of slightly rougher texture and minor edge wear.  The receiver has aged to a mottled silver patina with faint traces of case colors, small dings and light spotting. The wood is very fine with attractive grain, well defined checkering in grip area, some light handling marks, and rich color on the buttstock. The buttplate has aged to mostly brown patina. Mechanically very fine. Serial # 54XX
