Description:
Serial #3512a, 8mm Mauser, 17" barrel with a very good bore that has mild freckling within the grooves. This is an 1890 dated carbine that has an overall dull pewter gray patina on the receiver, which carries over onto the matching numbered bolt. The blued surfaces have turned to a dull, plum-brown patina over time with scattered spots of mild surface freckling, and a few small dents along the barrel jacket. The walnut stock rates very good with an old, added oil finish over a letter "A" carved on right side of butt, and some crude hashmark “checkering” on the underside of the forend. The cocking-piece is mismatched, but all other parts are matching numbered. The receiver has a surcharged conversion date, “91" and the receiver is "S" stamped as well. There is a unit marking on the rear band which reads "15.R.1.83". This is a very good example overall, and would make a nice representative example for a collection. Antique
