Description:

Collectors will tell you that of the several qualities that make a gun collectable, “rarity” and “condition” are important.  Schwing’s book, The Browning Superposed, tells us that of the tens of thousands of Superposed guns made, only 2,057 were made in 28 gauge.  That fact alone makes a 28 gauge Superposed something special.  However, of the 2,057 made, only 477 or so 28ga Superposed guns were made with the desirable barrel length of 28 inches.  And in 1966, Browning only made 32 of them.  That makes this well-conditioned 28ga Superposed one of the few.  You just don’t see a 28 gauge Superposed w/ 28-inch barrels come up for sale every day.  Fewer still with this desirable choke configuration.  Very collectable.

For sale is a 1966 Browning Superposed Grade I RKLT 28ga with 28-inch barrels, choked Mod/Full for hunting from my personal collection.  This 50-year old Superposed remains factory original as to parts, finish, and specifications.  This Superposed is not only beautiful, but is light, balanced, slim, trim, and with 28-inch barrels, points more naturally than your index finger!

Desireable characteristics of a small-bore Superposed (this gun has them all):
  -  28-inch barrels
  -  field chokes - mod/full
  -  Prince of Wales stock (round knob)  (just like JMB designed it!)
  -  Long Tang
  -  Rare
  -  Excellent condition
  -  Mirror bores
  -  Lever to the right
  -  Action is tight
  -  No salt wood

The photos are telling of the high condition of this Superposed.  I am a Browning nut and small-time collector.   I am not a professional gun grader.  That said, I will say that the bluing is excellent.  The only flaw in the bluing that I can see are the typical "Superposed love marks" in front of the forearm (see photos).  The wood and the finish are also excellent.  There are a couple of small dings in the finish from handling (see photos), as is typical of a 50-year old gun.

Shooting or hunting with a Browning Superposed is like carrying a piece of American history.  Whether you drop a grouse with this beauty, or buy it to grace your safe and your collection, you will be proud to own this one!

This Superposed comes with a Letter of Authenticity signed by the Browning Historian.

Please, serious inquiries only.

Will ship only to an FFL Dealer in continental USA.  Buyer pays for shipping and insurance.
