Description:
ON HOLD / Colt Single Action Army Revolver, manufactured 1900, serial # 194xx4, cal. 38-40 WCF, with a 4 3/4" barrel and a bright very good plus to near excellent bore showing strong rifling with minor oxidation and scattered light pitting but nothing drastic or alarming. The barrel and ejector rod housing are primarily a smooth dull pewter gray patina with some trace original dark gray blue in the protected areas. There are some minor ding marks and scratch marks on the underside of the barrel where the base pin was removed or installed improperly over the years. The cylinder is a dark gray-brown patina with rotational marks and scattered light pinprick pitting but nothing alarming. The frame is now primarily a silvery case-hardened patina with some toning to pewter and some traces of smoky colors in some of the protected areas, the hammer is similar with trace blue on the trigger. The straps are a dull pewter gray patina with some light dings and oxidation on the bow of the guard. The checkered hard rubber Rampant Colt grips rate very good with some minor wear of the diamonds and a few scratches along the ribbed section at the butt and there not numbered. The gun appears to time well and lockup properly. Overall an honest and very nice example that will retain investment value. Overall condition is good plus - good plus plus. Inv.: # 5-306
