The frame and hand-detachable lockplates have 100% coverage of deeply etched and darkly shaded floral engraving surrounding amazingly life like game scenes. The left side shows a setter and pointer flushing quail from a heavily wooded area. The right side shows a covey of quail feeding through a brush filled meadow. The bottom shows more scroll engraving surrounding the Merkel logo.
English walnut with a burgundy tinged color and fabulously figured grain pattern is used for the pistol grip stock and three-piece forearm. Merkel's fine bordered checkering pattern covers the grip surfaces and a smooth horn grip cap accents a shadowline at the rear of the grip.
