Description:
Holland & Holland 12 Bore Shotgun
1985, BAR IN WOOD HAMMER GUN, SESQUICENTENNIAL #9 of 15, NEW!

General Specs: Holland & Holland, Year 1985, 12 Gauge, 6bls 7oz, Side-by-Side
Serial Number: 41013

This fine shotgun was created by Holland & Holland as a celebration of the breech loading shotgun and the “BAR-IN-THE-WOOD” action that was developed in simulation of the muzzle loading shotguns of the era of 1835.  One hundred and fifty years later Holland & Holland crafted a total of 15 superbly detailed 12 bore, bar-in-the-wood, hammer guns showcasing the gun making skills of this world renowned BEST GUN maker.  Even casual observation will tell the gun lover the mastery of stock making required to so perfectly craft wood to metal in such an elaborate manner.  Everything about this gun, sn41013 made in 1985, proudly displays the superb craftsmanship that some would say makes Holland & Holland the finest gun maker in the world.  Weighing just 6lbs. 7oz. and balanced dynamically 3/16” in front of the hinge pin, it is a delightful, fast handling gun that would be a joy to carry afield.  The 30” M/F chopper lump barrels are perfectly struck and fitted to the gun with 1984 London proof marks at 3 ¼ tons and 2 ¾” chambers.  The highly figured, burl laden English walnut stock is perfectly mated to the action and has that great diamond profile at the grip with drop points, perfectly cut 28 lpi checkering, mullered borders, hand rubbed oil finish, and checkered butt.  This Holland has been fired a few times only and shows as new with no loss of blue, case color, or wood finish since it left the factory 32 years ago.  The rose and scroll engraving is perfectly executed with about 70% coverage, the screws are all untouched, and the triggers break cleanly at 3.5lbs. pull.  Cased in a new Brady style case with maker’s label and accessories, this Holland is a rare find and the perfect gun to chase birds or crush clays at your next vintage sporting clays event.  No worries about old guns not working or expensive repairs that  sometimes accompany original, vintage, 150 year old hammer guns.  Priced to sell, don’t hesitate or your one chance will be gone!  Thanks for looking.
