The blued barrels are engraved "Gebruder Merkel Suhl" and "Germany". The coin finished action is engraved with thistle leaf scroll surrounding game scenes of a fox approaching three pheasants on the left and three ducks settling into a marsh on the right. The bottom has more of the deep cut scroll surrounding "Gebruder Merkel Suhl" in the center.
Dark colored, heavily figured European fiddleback walnut is used for the pistol grip stock and three piece forearm. Multipoint checkering with a single line border covers the front and rear grip surfaces and the butt plate. As with all Merkel guns, the 'wood to metal' fit is superb. This gun is in overall near mint condition.
