Description:
Manufactured in 1923, this Winchester Deluxe Model 92 SRC has special order checkered deluxe forearm and pistol grip stock, 1/2 magazine, and a shotgun butt. The left side of the barrel ahead of the rear sight is marked with the two line address/patent date and ".38 W.C.F." at the breech. The top of the barrel and receiver at the breech are marked with the Winchester oval proof. The upper tang is marked with the three line model/maker/patent information, and the serial number is marked on the bottom of the receiver. Pinned blade front sight and folding ladder rear sight graduated to 200 yards. Standard blue finish with casehardened hammer and lever. Original saddle ring and staple on the left side of the receiver. The stock is fitted with a hard rubber Winchester grip cap and a checkered hard rubber Winchester buttplate. Serial # in the 924,000 range, therefore this carbine is too late to letter. However, in judging the fit and finish of the firearm, it is my opinion that this carbine is 100% original. Overall condition is very good. The carbine retains 40 to 50% original blue finish with areas thinning to a smooth brown patina and some muzzle, edge, and saddle ring wear. The lever has a smooth mottled brown patina with strong traces of original case colors in protected areas. The original XXX wood is also very good with some scattered minor dents and dings. The original style “H” checkering is crisp. The markings are clear. The action is excellent. The bore is excellent. Carbines were typically used as tools and very few deluxe SRCs exist, especially in the Model 92, which had the least percentage of deluxe guns of the common Winchester lever action models. Very seldom offered for sale and a great Winchester to add to your collection as an investment.
