Description:
Belgian 32 Gauge Double Barrel Percussion Shotgun

Carved Stock, Engraved Metal and Damascus Barrels

Here we present a beautiful Belgian 32 Gauge Double Barreled Percussion Shotgun, made during the mid-20th century in Belgium. Belgium has for centuries been an arms making center of the world.

This specimen is very petite and light, possibly made for the woman shooter. It is beautifully and profusely engraved on the lock, breech, tang, hammers, trigger guard and butt plate with a floral motif. Even the nipples are decorated. The straight wrist of the stock is finely checkered and the forearm and butt are relief carved. The barrels are a very fine Damascus with excellent contrast. The top of the rib is marked “Traxado de Aco”, likely the name of the maker. The ramrod features a brass rammer and a screw on the breech end. The bottom of the barrel cluster is profusely stamped according to Belgian proof law, as are the sides of each barrel. The “*/D” proof marks are likely those of Marchal René who used this mark from 1951 through 1982. Length of pull from rear trigger to the rear of the butt plate is 13-1/2 inches, but the overall daintiness of the gun makes this seem like less.

Overall condition is very fine. The barrels’ Damascus pattern and finish are almost entirely intact. The rest of the metal parts are finished white and highlight the engraving nicely. The stock is well-carved and shows little use. Checkering is sharp. The bores are fine and the action is excellent.

This firearm is of 20th Century production, but falls under the rules of an antique. No FFL required.

Barrel is 29-3/8 inches in length.

Caliber: 32 gauge

The bores are in fine condition and the firing mechanism is excellent.

Overall condition as seen in photos.

Here is a beautiful example of hand-craftsmanship from Belgium. It would be a fantastic small game traditional hunter.
