Payment Types Accepted: M/C, VISA, American Express and Discover Description: Colt Single Action .44 caliber revolver. Black powder single action in .44 caliber. Action works perfectly. Bore has good rifling. This is an interesting gun. The frame is military inspected by D.F.C. (David F. Clark). It also has a “C” for condemned. Barrel, cylinder, and trigger guard match, backstrap does not. Grips do not. So, what we have here is a military inspected, condemned frame .44 caliber revolver (marked .44 on the trigger guard and on the underside of the barrel). It also has a very weak U.S. on the frame which, in our opinion was put on later, or just lightly stamped. We think “put on later” is more likely. Barrel length is 5 ¼”. Barrel address is worn and partially visible. Taken altogether, this is a very interesting revolver. How did it come to be a .44 when it started off as a military U.S. inspected gun? Possibly sold by Colt as a condemned U.S. and converted to a .44-.40 (no etch panel on the barrel). SOLD |
