This is a hard to find 100% brass (EVEN THE BARREL) US NAVY PT BOAT FLARE GUN. It is made by VAn Karner CHEMICAL ARMS CORP. It is very heavy. It is in ver good condition anf functions perfectly. The brass bore is clean any unpitted or otherwise damaged or dented. It has no salt water corrosion or rust on the few steel parts. I have left it unpolished but a throuogh polishing would bring it out to lookong new. Has the original lanyard as well. And now for the best part! It comes with a half dozen correct 37mm parachute signal flares These are virtually impossible to find today. I searched thefor an idea on pricing. I found only ONE listing and it was for ONE flare. It was priced at $75 At that price my 6 flares would be worth$430 dollars! Even at $25 per flare it would be $150 worth of fireable flares. I am selling the whole package for $595 It is a marvelous collectible conversation piece BUT ALSO a valuable addition to your yacht as an emergency signaling safety device..I believe it is the same brand of pistol used in the movie PT 109.
