1895 SPORTING RIFLE IN SCARCE .30-03 CALIBER, MADE 1915, this is simply the earlier version of the famed .30-06 with the '03 having a slightly longer case neck only (.30-06 can be fired in the .30-03 which is probably why these 1895s at this late date were so chambered...just in case anyone had some early ammo both could be used!), correct 24" barrel, buckhorn rear sight with blade/bead front sight, gray/brown receiver with traces of blue in the most protected areas and on the sides of the magazine, very thin barrel blue mixing heavily with gray, fine markings, tight action, bore slightly dark with fine rifling and a shallow ring about 1 1/2" back from the muzzle, fine wood shows normal hunting/handling and tight wood to metal fit, forend retains the factory ebony inlay at the tip, fine screws with no extra holes.
