Description:
A really great looking early 1903 rifle made by the Rock Island Arsenal. This rifle is in fantastic shape and would make a fantastic historic shooter or addition to a collection. The rifle is made in 1908 which is about 10 years before they introduced a superior heat treating process into the 1903 rifle production. Therefore you need to be careful with the power of the ammunition loads used in this rifle. Out of 285,506 receivers made by Rock Island with this method 22 of them had failures. It’s believed that many of these failures were due to soldiers using 8mm Mauser ammo in their rifles during WWI, but you should still be careful and use the lightest loads possible for this rifle.
