Description:
This was one of the most colorful, widely used and popular Civil War firearms.  Compared to other single shot, muzzle loading arms used during the war, it was comparable to the first machine guns used in WWI.  It held seven metallic rimfire cartridges of .52 caliber in its tubular magazine located in the butt stock.  Working the trigger guard/lever extracted the empty shell case and loaded a fresh one into the chamber.  This gun, serial number 26xxx, was probably manufactured in 1863, and issued to a cavalry unit.  Because of their rapid fire capabablites, these guns were highly prized by settlers and cowboys alike after the war, in the great movement west in the late 1860's and 1870's.  This gun is in good, original condition and functions perfectly.  A real legend in its own time.     PRICE:  $2,250       We are Antique & Modern Firearms in Lexington, KY, dealer of fine firearms since 1974.   PH. 859-276-1419         We Buy, Sell and Trade Firearms & Knives.    Have a Individual FirearmFirearms Collection, or Firearms Estate to sell, let us know, we can buy or consignment sell it for you.       (sales at am-firearms)
