SAVAGE LEVER ACTION STALKING RIFLE ... 243Win caliber ... 22" barrel ... 41 3/4" overall ... weight 7 lbs 6 oz ... LOP 13 1/2" ... adjustable folding rear sight and ramp with blade front sight ... drilled and tapped for scope mounts ... sling swivel studs. Manufactured from 1965 to 1970.
The coin finished receiver has beautifully executed, high contrast game scene engraving. The right side shows a mountain lion crouching in a shadowy forest and the left side shows a bull elk with mountains and pine trees in the background. Both scenes are surrounded by dark shaded, dollar bill scroll engraving which continues on to the bottom. The action is jeweled and the lever has geometric engraving. The trigger and safety are a contrasting gold. The bore is bright and shiny and the action is crisp.
The pistol grip stock and rounded tip forearm are made from a remarkable piece of feathercrotch, California walnut. The raised comb is very comfortable and useful to a right or left hand shooter. The high gloss finish is in excellent condition with only minor handling marks.
