Payment Types Accepted: Bank to bank wire transfer (preferred), or bank cashier's check only Description: 1948 transition style Winchester Model 70 30-06. 24" Barrel. This rifle is in excellent condition inside and out but with a few collector type discrepancies. Blue is original at 97% with nicely refinished wood in equally great shape. The stock has factory Super Grade 70 swivel studs installed, which were added post production. There is also a small inlet in the wood near rear of receiver area to make clearance for an elevation screw of a previously mounted receiver sight. These transition models were produced between 1946-48 and usually incorporate features of both pre and post WWII rifles. This one has the early clover leaf tang and clam shell safety but is correctly drilled for scope mounts on the smooth topped receiver with 2 holes each both front and back. However, there is an extra 6x48 hole in the rear receiver bridge that is not visible under this scope set-up or any other unless removed to shoot open sights. The scope is a 2-4 power Bausch & Lomb Balvar in mint condition with clear optics on a matching B&L mount. Windage and elevation adjustments are made on the bases of this slick set-up, not on the scope itself which has no turrets. The scope plunges out of the mounts for removal and back in with no loss of zero. One of the nicest looking "shooter" priced rifles you are liable to ever find. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
