Description:
Here is one of the most collectible pre war Colt revolvers that you could encounter. It is a 1st Model Detective Special .38 square butt in nickel finish with it’s original box and paperwork. A few of these early guns were targeted at the factory and when Colt did that they stamped a T inside the crane above the serial number to indicate that this had been done. This gun has the T marking and the original test target to go with it. This gun is a very early Detective Special and quite rare as it lacks the barrel marking on the right side. This is discussed in Gary Peer’s book on the Snub-Nose Colt revolvers. The nickel finish is excellent with very minimal light marks. Certainly the best that I have seen in my many years of collecting. The gun is mechanically perfect and the bore is like new. The original checkered walnut grips are as new and just like they were when the gun left the factory. This is one for the advanced collector and not a gun that you will encounter very often if at all. I offer a three day inspection on all of my guns and it will be packaged correctly with the gun being shipped in a Hard Case and the Colt box packed separately in a shipping box to prevent damage.
