This is an attractive gun, marked “HUBERTUS” along the inside of the left frame wall, and retains 75-80% of the original blue finish on the barrel with some mild silvering at the muzzles, as well as some small spots of freckling, mainly along the left shotgun barrel. The center rib has a blank retailer's banner on the center rib just ahead of the manually operated flip-up rifle sight. The round-bodied frame has minimal engraving, and about 50% of the original nickel finish remaining under spots of even, mild surface freckling. Cocking indicators are present on the top tang, and a Greener style safety is present on the left side of the wrist. The checkered, splinter forend has moderate flattening of the points, as well as a short, with-the-grain crack running up from the iron for about 1 1/2” on the right side. The checkered, pistol gripped buttstock has nicely figured European walnut with rounded, continental cheek-piece, scalloped horn grip cap, and grooved horn buttplate. The LOP measures 14” with drops of 1 3/8” and 2 5/8”. The lock-up is firm and the action functions flawlessly. A fired RWS 9.3 x 72R case is included with the gun for reference purposes. This is a nice, serviceable, pre-war drilling that rates very good plus-fine condition overall.
