Description:
NSN, .577 Snider, 36 1/2” barrel with an excellent, bright bore that has strong rifling. This 1872 dated, Tower-made rifle has an overall dark, plum-brown patina throughout with scattered patches of mild freckling and pinprick pitting along the barrel, receiver, and lock. There are no British property markings, only commercial proofs on the barrel, and a deeply struck “E.I./No. 3” (East India) marking on the buttplate tang. The brass trigger guard and nosecap have a mild yellow-ochre patina throughout while the walnut stock has a fairly thick added military oil finish over numerous minor handling marks and surface blemishes throughout. The action is crisp and fully functional, and a correct ramrod is included. This is a very nice, E.I.C.-used Snider in about good plus-very good condition overall. Antique
