Description:
#4936 Winchester 1876 sporting rifle, OBFMCB 45/60WCF with an unusually fine bore (about an 8 on a scale of 10), and also being a very early 2nd Model in the 3XXX serial range (1878) and will very likely letter from the Winchester Museum as having “lid added” (the lid being the dust cover) and thus this rifle actually would’ve been an upgrade from the First Model Open-Top ‘76. Fine crisp metal overall with no pitting or seriously rounded edges and having an even thin brownish grey patina, being heaviest on the frame. Fine markings, long range rear barrel sight, standard trigger, and VG+ wood which is no doubt replaced but looks very good but the butt-trap has not been drilled for the cleaning rods and is missing the sliding brass door and spring. Nothing really special about this “Centennial Rifle” other than the fact that it is a really good looking, decent, and impressive gun and is a very early Model 1876 with lots of “Cowboy Charisma” …plus it has a really fine bore. $2595
