Description:
This is a rare Remington cal.58, model 1863 Zouave Rifle, only 12,500 between 1862 and 1865. One of the best made and designed rifles of the Civil War Era. This rifle is different than the usual model 1861 Springfield. This Zouave model Remington ,features a brass butt plate,patch box,trigger guard, two barrel bands,and a for-end tip. The lock is case hardened, dated 1863 and is stamped ''REMINGTON'S '' ILION, NY. .The top of the barrel is dated 1863, the barrel is also marked with the eagle head proof and steel H.S.L . on the left side of the barrel. The two inspectors cartouches stand out very visible on the left side of the flat stock B H AND H D G . The bayonet attachment is on the side of the barrel. The original tulip headed ramrod is present and in good shape, all the slings are in amazing condition, the double locking is perfect, the 7 grove bore is very nice. The barrel has been dropped and has a dimple on the end, that effects nothing in my opinion. In the patch box has an extra original worm, and screw on tool for cleaning, tow original exrtas you hardly ever find. On top is the two leaf sights. This is as original as it gets, not cleaned ,but in original condition,untouched,dark original patina, super hard to find in this condition. Call 859-533-5445
