Description:
A very collectable PRE WAR (NOT POST WAR) 1943 Brno 8x57, mod. 22F. with a full solid rib 20" barrel and intregal sights, and a beautiful Acorn bolt knob..  This first model 22F is very  rare in that it is a  Large Ring 22F  and so marked the same as the small ring Brnos on the front action ring and side of action, and has all the proof marks, this particular model was put into production  at the end of WW2 when the German troops left  Czechoslovakia   circa 1943. The Brno factory went back into commercial business and they used up a limited supply of Large ring actions that the German army left behind...  The Brno plant was forced to build military small arms during ww2....As things got back to normal they produced the 21H and 22F, the F meaning manlicher style stocks  and the 21H stipulated the rifle..They quickly used up  the few LR actions.  Then they used the round top G-33/40s they had on hand for the German Customs service called the mod  33  or 35, a carbine, as I recall???,  later in 1948 Brno went  to the double square bridge G33-40 (The latest mod. 21H and 22F). using the same stock design as they did in the beginning, all of the early Brnos used the same stock design.. This rifle is extremely rare and in excellent shape for a early 1900s  rifle, has an excellent bore and and shoots great groups.  Has a historical background. The rifle is an awesome example of the old world  gun makers art, The best commercial hunting rifle ever produced in the opinnion of many..Ive shot African PG with it, and some elk and both Whitetail and Mule deer, My load is the 160 gr.  Barnes TTSX BT at 2800 FPS..I have worked up loads to go with the gun..

It has the beautiful ACORN bolt handle suitable for  for scope use, and the receiver is drilled and taped  without disturbing the stamping on the front ring, has an original single trigger as opposed to the usual double set triggers, but used the same bottom metal as all the Brnos, .  Has a  a good 3 lb. trigger pull, 20.5 inch barrel with a" full solid intregal rib with one standing rear sight", and front sight on a ramp all intregal;  Original Brno safety works on the left side of the action and is scope friendly;  Old world rust blue is like new and always will be..Trigger guard has extension to the grip cap, and has the oval glove shotgun trigger guard.  The front action ring is marked on top with CS.ST over  ZBROJOVKA  over BRNO,

The full manlicher stock is higher grade of European walnut than usual.   Has a fitted metal forend cap, and sling swivel through side of forend and through an integral recoil lug on the barrel that the screw  hole such as on the Ruger 77 manlichers.  Checkering is fine European flat top, and shows a small bit of wear;  The recoil pad is covered with dark oxblood/brown pigskin,  Pig skin covered recoil pad is an add on but the stock has not been cut... Stock shows some light surface scratches as expect of  a gun this old. The gun shot 1/2  inch clover leafs with a 3X Leupold in a recent 100 yard test and sight in with my handloads using the 150 gr. Speer.. The irons shot on at 75 yards and  got me a 1 inch groups.. both with 150 gr Accubonds and 200 Speers to the same POI. as well as the above mentioned Barnes load.

The barrel in that contour with a solid rib and sights today on a custom riflel would cost you at least $2000. for the barrel alone and the leather covered recoil pad would cost you an additional  $600.I have researched this gun and that information goes with the gun, has a very interesting background..Mostly from Olsons book, interviews on phone with experts..

Great rife for the guy who has everything..Its a beauty, its collectable, and is a great hunting rifle and caliber with a history and it handles and points like a light high dollar shotgun. If completely restored it would be outstanding and worth the investment.
