Description:
SOLD..Antique Colt 1877 Lightning Factory Letter. Here is a pretty nice and most of all honest and working Colt 1877. Has the factory letter shipped 1879 Simmons Hardware. Blue finish 3 1/2" barrel S/N 18768. Letters all the way but grips not listed. As you can see it has the fairly hard to find checkered wood grips that are absolutely original to this gun and found only on these very early models.. The gun is mechanically perfect. It works perfectly in DA and SA mode and locks up tight as new when the trigger is pulled just like it is suppose to. No slop or wobbles anywhere. All the markings are excellent but the etched barrel panel is long worn away. Gun has traces of blue in the protected areas. The balance of the metal is a smooth gray brown patina with some staining spots here and there and the only pitting is on the barrel left side as seen in the photo. The screws are all clean and sharp and serviceable. Some fire blue still remains on the back bottom part of the hammer. Correct long knurled cylinder pin that it burred up a little as you can see as is very common on well used guns. The bore is near excellent and bright with just very minor roughness in a couple small spots. Chambers are very clean with no pitting and just some light crud that will clean to excellent I am sure. Untouched front sight. The grip are very nice with no splits or cracks and a perfect factory fit. The checkering is still sharp and has just very minor scratches and dings from honest use. This is a pretty nice and very early MFG ole 1877. Has the factory letter $100 value.. Checkered wood grips and best of all, it is in perfect working order as most all of these you will see do not work at all and are VERY hard to repair. It shows no abuse and just honest wear from being a pocket revolver of the day. Priced fairly from what I see for sale out there. $20 insured shipping.
