Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: For sale, a German 1916 dated Amberg Gewehr 98 rifle that likely served in WW1 and then was reworked in 1920 for the Weimar Rebuplic. This Gew.98 was updated in 1920 with the new style rear sight designed for the German military standard 8mm Mauser cartridge. At that time, any parts that were worn or broken were replaced and the receiver which was originally left bright in the white from Amberg was blued. Depending on who did the rebuild or time constraints, often the replaced or swapped parts were renumbered to the receiver. This example has not been numbers matched, it is almost all mismatched. The bore in this rifle is pitted and dark. It still has rifling and should shoot fine. A neat rifle that witnessed a lot of German history.
