Description:
SOLD...Antique 1873 Winchester. Here is a very honest and very nice looking 1873 Winchester. It has the standard 24" octagon barrel. S/N 325379 and made very early 1890. The bore is good with good rifling and some minor roughness. Has a couple semi circular areas of roughness but no rings or bulges. It is just pitting. The mechanics are excellent. It feeds, fires and ejects perfectly and still shoots very well as these 38-40's are very forgiving even with less than perfect bores. It is by far my favorite caliber for shooting. No backed out primers or bulged cases. Strong carrier and lever springs. Hammer notches are perfect and positive with no issues. The metal is wonderful dark plumb brown patina that has never been cleaned on or messed with. Has that right out of ther attic look. Just the way you love to find them.. No pitting but for a small area at the end of the muzzle on the barrel and a little on the mag tube. {see photo}.. Has some dings and scratches on the bottom tang that could be touched up to make look better but I am not touching it [see photo}.. All the markings are excellent. All the screw heads are clean and sharp and not all burred up from tinkering. Still has the original front and rear sights. The rear sight elevator only looks like it might be a later replacement. Has the original dust cover that is still fairly tight and retracts with the lever throw. The wood is very nice as well. The forearm has no splits or cracks and fits tight and proud to the metal with no dings or bad scratches at all. The butt stock has no splits or cracks and also fits tight and proud in most places to the metal. It does show a couple minor chips on the right side up by the receiver and upper tang. Still is very nice wood throughout and still has good color and not oil soaked as many you see. That is about all I can say about this one. A very nice looking and most honest ole 73 for the money. Getting harder to find nice 73's that have not been cleaned on or messed with that I can sell at a reasonable price. $50 insured shipping. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos. If you call, please leave a message as I get so many tela marketers calls everyday that I no longer answer the phone BUT I do check all of my voice messages. E-mail is the best way to contact me. Thank you for looking and check back often as I will be listing many more very soon.
