Description:
This is an excellent example of an early commercial version of the military 1911 Colt 45 Automatic. While exactly the same mechanically, these guns were designed for the civilian market and were polished to a much higher degree, resulting in a much higher, more lustrous blue finish. Since U.S. military officers at that time were required to purchase their own sidearm, many chose this more attractive version. This gun is in very nice condition, inside and out, with over 90% original finish and an excellent bore. Made in 1917, it is almost 100 years old, and is 100% original in every respect.
