Description:
VERY RARE FACTORY ORIGINAL CASED COLT MODEL 1849 POCKET REVOLVER TWO BARREL SET CIRCA 1862. 100% original and in superb condition this is one of only a handful of 6” Model 1849’s cased with factory extra shorter 4” barrel and loading lever assembly. All matching serial number in the 211,xxx range with the 4” barrel and loading lever un-numbered. Both barrels with the one line New York address. Superb condition with 95% plus original blue on the barrels and cylinder. 100% crisp cylinder scene and all the safety pins in mint condition. Frame, hammer and both loading levers with nearly all the original color case hardening. Brass back strap and trigger guard in mint condition and never polished with a deep umber color. These were never plated and finished in the military contract style of the model 1860’s and 61’s for the U.S. govt. during the Civil War. Very probably ordered for or by an officer. Original Colt Factory walnut case with the original dark green velvet lining in outstanding condition. Original Colt’s patent mold, E. Pluribus Unum Eagle flask, Colt combination tool and Eley Bros. Green Label 250 count cap tin all in superb condition as well. Really exceptional with excellent old collection provenance.
