Description:
This original - 45-70 Trapdoor - Springfield Model 1873 rifle has a round tapered 1" to 3/4" x 31" barrel fitted with an adjustable ladder rear sight and a blade front sight. The bore has some pitting. Metal finish is splotchy on the trapdoor breech block. The P grade Walnut stock is mounted with iron furniture, including sling swivels. Two inspector cartouches can be seen, one on the left side of the stock just behind the rear lock screw and another on the bottom of the butt stock behind the trigger guard. The trapdoor breech block is dated US Model 1873. Stamped on the lock plate is US Springfield and the spread eagle. Length of pull is 13-1/2". Good wood to metal fit - made by Springfield Armory.
